NEET

The National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) is the examination used to fill approximately 54,000 medical seats across the country. According to a Supreme Court order, NEET 2016 and subsequent NEET exams are the only tests accepted for filling both All India Quota seats and State Level Quota seats. This examination is also valid for applying to private colleges across the country.

NEET Eligibility:

  • The candidate must have completed 17 years of age as of December 31 of the current year.
  • The candidate must have passed the class 12th examination with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and must have passed individually in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English.
  • For candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology taken together in the HSC examination must be 40%.
  • The candidate applying for NEET must be an Indian citizen.
  • The upper age limit for candidates seeking admission through NEET is 25 years as of December 31 of the current year. There is a relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Categories.
  • Candidates failing to meet the above-mentioned criteria shall not be permitted to apply for NEET.
